Powerful Words of wisdom with Pastor Dickson Meso Ibekwe

Word of Wisdom: “And you say, ‘How I hated instruction, and my heart despised correction!’” — Proverbs 5:12

Life Point
As believers, we must guard against rejecting instruction. The verse above reminds us how damaging it is to despise discipline and correction. A teachable heart is essential.

The moment we think we know it all is the moment we reveal how little we truly understand.

We often express hatred or contempt for everyday things—traffic, work, school—without realizing the power of our words. Casual comments like “I hate my job” or “I despise this situation” might seem harmless, but they shape our mindset and can affect our spiritual atmosphere.

Words have power. The more we speak negatively, the more we invite negativity into our lives and give the enemy room to operate.

Many Christians unknowingly curse themselves, their children, their marriages, and even their provision through careless speech. This can sow discord and hinder progress. Remember, we are not called to hate anything but sin.

Hatred and dread are subtle tools the enemy uses to steal our joy. God has shown me that dread is closely related to fear.

We don’t need to dread getting up in the morning, going to work, or facing life’s challenges. Instead, we can respond in faith.

Take a lesson from the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4—when her son died, she didn’t speak defeat.

She declared, “It is well.” Her truth was stronger than the facts. Likewise, we must choose words that align with God’s promises, not just our circumstances.

We must not allow our hearts to despise anyone or anything, except sin.

If you are holding on to bitterness or harbouring hatred in your heart—often while the other person is unaware—repent.

Ask God to fill you with His love, grace, and forgiveness.

Prayer
Lord, give me a humble, teachable, and loving heart—one that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
