Warns Ugochinyere to Respect Party Leaders
Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dismissed Hon. Ude Okoye’s claim of assuming the position of National Secretary, describing it as baseless and laughable.
Speaking during a New Year media interaction, Anyanwu asserted, “The PDP has only one National Secretary, and that is me. There is no debate or confusion about this.”
He highlighted the impracticality of Okoye’s claim, noting that the party’s national secretariat had been closed for the year 2024 and would only reopen on January 13, 2025.
“The PDP is governed by a strong constitution that values order and due process. The idea that someone can simply assume office without following the proper procedures is out of the question,” Anyanwu said.
Addressing reports of a court judgment allegedly supporting Okoye’s position, Anyanwu clarified, “Even if there is a court ruling, it cannot be enforced once an appeal is filed. We have successfully appealed that judgment, and its execution is automatically stayed.”
Reaffirming his position, Anyanwu stated that his tenure as National Secretary remains valid until December 2025. He dismissed Okoye’s actions as political theatrics, branding him a “big joker.”
Anyanwu also issued a stern warning to Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the Federal House of Representatives member representing Ideato Nation, who served as his Director General during the last governorship election but has recently been criticizing him publicly.
“Ugochinyere is still very young and should focus on building bridges, not burning them. Attacking party leaders will not serve him well in the long run,” Anyanwu cautioned.
The former Senator for Imo East urged party members to exercise caution in pursuing personal ambitions, emphasizing the importance of loyalty and unity within the party. “A true party member demonstrates integrity through their words and actions,” he concluded.
