Vincent Enyeama, the former Nigeria goalkeeper, has expressed his eagerness to return to the national team setup if given the opportunity. Despite his controversial retirement in 2015 following a disagreement with former head coach Sunday Oliseh, Enyeama remains one of the country’s most revered goalkeepers, having amassed 101 appearances for the Super Eagles.
In an interview with Lagos Talks, Enyeama acknowledged his lack of certification as a goalkeeper coach but drew parallels with Zinedine Zidane, who was appointed as Real Madrid’s manager despite lacking formal coaching credentials. Enyeama indicated his willingness to contribute his experience gained from years of playing in Europe to the national team setup.
Enyeama reiterated his unwavering commitment to Nigeria, stating, “I can never say no to my country.” He expressed readiness to accept any role offered to him by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), emphasizing his desire to contribute positively to Nigerian football. However, he emphasized the need for the federation to extend the invitation first before he can formally engage with the national team setup.
